Jacques Réattu at Musee Réattu, Arles, France
A wonderful 16th-century building on the banks of the Rhone dedicated to the Arlesian French Revolutionary artist (1760-1833) and other artists from the area. ❤❤❤
Niko Pirosmani: Wanderer between Worlds, an exhibition at Fondation Vincent Van Gogh, Arles, France
Pirosmani was born in Goergia in 1862, the son of peasant farmers. He lived a simple and lonely life, far removed for Asian or European cultural influences, offering his simple paintings in exchange for food. His work is naive, but not faux-naive; he genuinely had little experience of some of his subject matter, e.g. his animal paintings and his pictures of battle scenes. But he produced a very large body of work and is recognised by contemporary artists such as Tadao Ando, whose table is exhibited alongside the works of Pirosmani in this exhibition. ❤❤❤
