Jazz on a Summer's Day at Picturehouse at FACT, Liverpool

A one-off showing of the digitally remastered version of the 1959 film of the previous year's Newport Jazz Festival, all shot in brilliant colour. Artists performing included Thelonius Monk, Louis Armstrong, Mahalia Jackson, and of equal fascination were the many shots of the audence and all the surrounding activities.  We are used to seeing only dramatisations of the 1950s in that kind of definition. It was quite hard to believe that this time it was real. ❤❤❤❤❤
